In the first webinar series with Israel’s University of Haifa, Crossroads has invited Dr. Yaniv Levyatan to share insight on how hackers are exploiting our psychological vulnerabilities to gain access to our digital assets. He will discuss the various tactics employed by hackers as well as how Israel has been engaging them on a daily basis. He will also share how individuals and organizations in Taiwan can identify and overcome forms of psychological warfare from both domestic and overseas threats.

In efforts to promote national innovation ecosystem in Taiwan we were honored to co organize a webinar on ‘The Importance of Higher Education in Driving a National Innovation Ecosystem’, held on June 30th. 
With guest speaker Professor Ron Robin, Chairperson of VERA (Association of University Heads, Israel) and President of the University of Haifa, Israel, who spoke of higher education and its impact on the national innovation ecosystem in Israel, as well as the strategies and methods for talent cultivation and industry innovation in Israel. 
On the panel attended Dr Kuan Chung-Ming, President of the National Taiwan University, who further elaborated on the topic and highlighted the importance of industry collaboration, the use of humor and how the academia promotes Taiwan's innovation system.
Also on the panel attended Audrey Tang, Digital Minister of the Executive Yuan, R.O.C, who shared information about government measures to promote innovation in education. Minister Tang shared views on collaborative data as a way to drive innovation and the importance of diversity to cultivate innovation.

The event was supported by the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei (ISECO)  and the American Institute of Taiwan (AIT).  The representative of the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei (ISECO) Mr. Omer Caspi, and the American Institute of Taiwan (AIT) Ms. Arati Shroff gave their opening remarks emphasizing the impact of education in driving the national innovation ecosystem in both Taiwan and Israel.

The BCCT Women in Business committee Chair Revital Shpangental Golan and CEO Steven Parker emphasized the importance and benefits of running the WIB programme. They highlighted that although Taiwan ranks top in Asia for gender equality, much more can be achieved to reduce inequality in the workplace. The WiB programme is crucial to empower women and create leading role-models across Taiwan.

On the 22nd of November Duane Morris & Selvam Taiwan, a Foreign Legal Affairs Law firm organised and hosted the Israel segment of their Window on the World Seminar Series. 

Ms. Revital Shpangental of Anemone Ventures was invited to speak as an industry leader and representative of Israel to discuss topics ranging from Israel's investment ecosystem, to monetizing Taiwan-Israel co-innovation.

Hosted and moderated by Anemone Ventures Founder and CEO Revital Shpangental, the event featured senior executives speakers such as Bill Farrell, Managing Partner at Greater China Boyden and Peter Kurz, former Chairman of Citigroup Global Capital Markets in Taiwan, Chief Strategy Officer of QIC and an entrepreneur.

Bill Farrell shared his expertise on ‘what MNCs look for in their executives when hiring’, while Peter Kurz talked about the ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) criteria as a new measure of success for companies.

Professor Sheng-Yung Yang, Dean of the International College and Vice President of International Affairs of PU later joined the panel discussion and explained how PU prepares its students to work in an international environment, and how PU intends to remain competitive and face the AI revolution.

The Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA, 外貿協會) and its Finnish counterpart on Wednesday last week signed a memorandum of understanding in Taipei to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Businesses exchanges are expected to increase because of the agreement, TAITRA said. The agreement was signed by TAITRA and Business Finland — the major Finnish funding agency for financial research and innovation — at the Fifth Taiwan-Finland Economic and Trade Dialogue.
