Taiwan is expected to be the third biggest winner in global trade this year, according to recent surveys by Bloomberg News covering 75 countries and territories.Bloomberg ranked the winners in global trade based on surpluses in their current accounts — a broad measure of trade in goods and services — as a percentage of GDP.

Taiwan’s level of journalistic freedom leads its East Asian counterparts, the annual World Press Freedom Index report released by Reporters Without Borders (RWB) showed, with Taiwan staying at No. 51 for the second year.

Media freedom in countries in the Asia-Pacific region had either deteriorated or stagnated, the report said. It also highlights that there has been a decline in media freedom the world over, with the trend particularly worrisome in Latin America.
